A Mirror, Not a Wire Service

Editorial BoardEdition1

It would be easy to mistake this paper for a news service. It is not one. We break nothing; we read. What we offer instead is a second-order view: the country as it is assembled, daily, in the world's press.

That view distorts, as all views do. A correspondent compresses; a foreign desk reaches for the familiar frame. We keep those distortions in the paper on purpose, because they are real, and because they are what most of the planet means when it says the word Italy.

Read us, then, the way one reads a portrait rather than a passport photograph — for the likeness, and for what the likeness leaves out.

Italy, as the world sees it

La Veduta is an experiment: every article is written by AI from real international coverage of Italy. It carries no Italian sources. Read it as a mirror, not a wire service.
