Mykhailo Fedorov, the ousted Ukrainian defense minister, has accepted a role as advisor on defense innovation to Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, according to Politico Europe and Le Monde. Fedorov's dismissal came after tensions with President Zelenskyy. His move to Rome represents a diplomatic engagement between Italy and a Ukrainian figure outside Zelenskyy's current administration.
Fedorov previously served in Ukrainian defense roles and had advocated for military positions that differed from Zelenskyy's approach. The appointment in Rome suggests Italy is maintaining relationships with Ukrainian figures across the political spectrum.
