Hormuz strikes tighten LNG squeeze, testing Genoa's energy lifeline

A second tanker carrying Qatari liquefied natural gas was struck while leaving the Strait of Hormuz, Euronews reported Monday, deepening a supply disruption that is now pressing directly on Italy's energy imports. The GasLog Shanghai was hit in the same area where the Al Rekayyat was attacked weeks earlier, according to the report.

Italian utility Edison said QatarEnergy had extended force majeure to a further three cargoes, bringing the total number of affected shipments to 24 through September, Euronews reported. The widening disruption comes as much of Italy remains under red-alert heat warnings, with 19 major cities including Rome, Milan and Naples already on the highest alert level, the BBC reported.
