Spain has imposed entry controls on travellers arriving from Italy, retaliating for Rome's own border checks, according to the Guardian. The move comes after Madrid warned Italy it would act unless Rome halted its controls by Sunday, Deutsche Welle reported.

Italy's foreign minister called Spain's decision "incomprehensible and completely unacceptable," the Guardian said. Travellers between the two countries are now caught up in a migration dispute triggered by the Ceuta border rush, when tens of thousands of migrants swam from Morocco to the Spanish enclave.
