Ryanair winter flight cuts hit Liguria's second airport

Ryanair said Wednesday it would reduce its winter schedule across Europe as the Irish no-frills carrier and other airlines confront higher fuel costs caused by the US-Iran war, according to The Local Italy. The cuts will trim frequencies on many routes that the airline operates from Italian airports, including those serving Liguria's coast.

For the port region of Liguria, the reduction lands at a delicate moment. Genoa's Cristoforo Colombo airport, the smaller of the region's two airports, has leaned heavily on Ryanair in recent years to sustain year-round connections to northern European cities, supplementing the summer charter traffic that fills the Riviera's hotels.
