Hot air from the Sahara has settled over the Iberian peninsula and is spreading north across Europe, according to the Guardian's weather tracker. Southern Italy, including Molise, is in the path of the advancing heatwave conditions expected to build over large swathes of the continent this week. The Guardian reported that temperatures are expected to soar across the region as the mass of hot air moves eastward.
The heatwave poses potential risks to agriculture across southern Italy as sustained heat from the Sahara typically brings drought conditions to the region.
