Spain's border checks reach Tuscany's summer travel

Spain on Saturday introduced temporary border checks on travellers arriving from Italy, escalating a dispute between the EU partners over migration, according to France 24. The move follows Italy's decision to impose similar controls after more than 70,000 migrants crossed into Spain's Ceuta enclave from Morocco on July 30–31, the outlet reported.

The Italian foreign minister called Spain's decision "incomprehensible and completely unacceptable," the Guardian reported, as people making their way between the two countries found themselves caught up in the migration row. The EU says the tit-for-tat restrictions are temporary and will have no lasting impact on the Schengen zone, France 24 noted.
