At least 200 people have been evacuated after a wildfire broke out near Italy's Lake Garda, according to Al Jazeera. The blaze is the latest in a series of climate-driven emergencies across the Italian peninsula this summer, following heatwave red alerts in 27 cities and a national temperature record set in neighbouring Austria.

Lake Garda, which straddles the regions of Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige, is one of Italy's most visited tourist destinations, drawing millions of visitors each year to its shores and the surrounding alpine foothills. The fire threatens not only homes and infrastructure but also the summer economy that depends on the area's natural attractions.
